A $700 old cop car seems too good to be true. How would a car like this be to own?

I loved mine. I had one very similar to that for about a year, and then sold it for my motorcycle. Occasionally they have trans issues, and you have to be careful with the sparkplugs, but other than that I had no problems with mine.

I wrote all about it here: http://oppositelock.kinja.com/living-with-an…
Find a detective’s car with a full service history and it can serve you well.

They’re generally super reliable cars. Taxi companies easily run them up to 400k without major issues. As Justin said, detectives cars are usually good purchases. But you get carpet and velour, which usually aren’t nice either way.
Look for federal government owned cars, they’re usually driven lightly around airports and government buildings. No high speed pursuits, and minimal curb jumping. They’re also meticulously serviced also.
